A Sixties Collection
HEACHAM HERITAGE WOULD LIKE TO THANK CAROLYN RAYMOND FOR SENDING IN THE PHOTOS AND NAMES
(CAN YOU ADD ANY MORE NAMES?)

I feel they are all taken in the early 1960's. They come from Lynda Mitchell (maiden name Selby). We went  to Heacham Primary School from infants through to 11 years old.
I was Carolyn Powley and my father ran the butchers shop in the High Street next to the Greyhound Pub and my mother had a wool shop further down the High Street on the corner of Kenwood Road (now a dry cleaners).
Early sixties Heacham carnival queen. From left to right Michele ?,
Jean Christie, Elizabeth Cawthorne, Lynda Selby and Jane Williamson.

Three tiers of partygoers. Back from left, Carolyn Powley, Libby Tanner. Middle row Susan Coker, Linda Elyard and Jane Williamson. Front row Elaine Sanger and Janice Cave. Taken at a birthday party for Lynda Selby.

A school photo...can you add any names?

A different birthday pic sent by Lynda, who said "This photo is of my birthday party when I guess I was 4 or 5 so 1958 or 1959. The back row from left to right is Valerie Townsend, family, family, Patricia Smith, Gareth Sanger & Libby Tanner. The front row is Philip Wiles, me, David Townsend & Richard Smith. Apart from looking very young, everyone in the photo apart from my 2 cousins lived at Fenside or Cheney Hill."

Again, sent to me, by Lynda Mitchell (was Lynda Selby) who said
"These photos were taken when my auntie and three cousins were down from Yorkshire for a weeks holiday in the summer holidays. The first of the photos was taken in our front garden. Jane Williamson is standing at the back and Carolyn Powley is in the deckchair. The next one was taken at the south beach. I'm not sure how old we were, probably about 9 or 10?"
My dad had a butcher's business next door to the Greyhound at 5 High Street and my mum had a wool shop opposite Mrs Hammond's toy shop.

Taken at Fenside possibly in 1957. The back row from left to right is Elizabeth Groom, ?,?, Pamela Woods, ?. The front row is ?,Lynda Selby, Philip Wiles and Linda Woods.

From the left
Jane Williamson, Carolyn Powley and Susan Coker

"This is a carnival float at Fenside. Maybe it was taken about 1957 as there is obviously a big age gap between the children on the back row and the front row so I don't think we would normally have been together. We were probably all watching the carnival and my dad decided to take a photo," said Lynda.

Another great carnival queen picture. Back row from left to right is ?,?, Heather Fox and the front row is Lynda Selby, Carolyn Powley and Diane Gascione.

School sports day held on the public playing field. Lynda in the middle of the photo, Mr Williman has the loudhailer and Billy Coker is the little boy in the foreground.

Another school sports day. Carolyn Powley far right in shorts biting her nails in fear of what’s to come. Libby Tanner is on the left next to the seated teacher. Jane Williamson with dark hair and Jazzy shorts in the middle (looks like she is going to take off).
